Many of Mauricio’s childhood friends stayed in their birthplace region in Costa Rica. Most of them have families and steady jobs and only travel to Spanish-speaking countries. Mauricio knew that this was not the life he wanted. For starters, he wanted to speak more than one language.
Contrary to English or Spanish, the language of interactive media has no boundaries, no grammar, and offers endless creative options. If there is one thing that Mauricio likes the most, it is swimming in this interactive swimming pool. This is one place he can really feel free.
Now, as a proud resident of Connecticut, married plus Dyson, and an aspiring Swiftie, Mauricio has one dream: to be a successful UX/UI designer in the vast media world. He loved this field when he first designed the website of “Dulce Junio café,” his first business in Costa Rica. He felt fully creative when he added smart dispute algorithms to a parking ticket management app he developed. He hopes that his current endeavor at Quinnipiac University will pave the way toward the next step in his career.
The key to learning a new language is grammar, and Mauricio loves the grammar of the interactive media field. Where the present perfect, past tense, and phrasal verbs are replaced by threads, stories, and reels – there is an exact time and place for each form of communication. Mauricio is fascinated by this new grammar language and eager to implement it in every course, every digital project, and every introductory post.
He is surrounded by people who are not fully fluent in this language. His husband doesn’t know how to post, his mom thinks that Facebook and YouTube are the same, and his dad doesn’t know the address of the app store everybody shops in. Mauricio is seeking new friends, classmates, and colleagues who share his passion and interests.
In the short term, his aspirations are to create, develop, and launch user-friendly and accessibility-oriented digital solutions. In the long term, combined with his past finance and business administration career, he aspires to be a leader and innovator in the interactive media field.
